1st Chadsmoor Scout Group
As a Trustee, you’ll play a vital role behind the scenes governance side of Scouting at 1st Chadsmoor, helping ensure the Scout Group is well governed, financially secure, and able to continue providing exciting adventures and skills for life to local young people. You don’t need previous Scouting experience, just a willingness to contribute your skills, ideas and experience to support the Group’s future success. Trustees focus on governance and strategic oversight, enabling our volunteer teams to deliver outstanding programmes for young people.
What does the role involve?
Trustees work together as part of the Group’s Trustee Board to ensure that 1st Chadsmoor Scout Group is run safely, legally and effectively. The Board provides oversight of finances, property, risk management and compliance, helping the Group fulfil its charitable purpose and support young people to gain skills for life.
Key Responsibilities
- Help ensure the Scout Group is managed in accordance with charity law, Scout policies and regulations.
- Support the long-term sustainability and development of the Group, working alongside the GLV of the Group.
- Monitor the Group’s finances, budgets and future financial planning. The Trustee Board works with the GLV to set budgets.
- Help ensure sufficient resources, funds, equipment and facilities are available to support Scouting activities.
- Oversee the maintenance, protection and appropriate insurance of Group property and equipment.
- Assist with identifying, managing and reviewing risks affecting the Group.
- Attend Trustee Board meetings and contribute to discussions and decision-making.
- Use your skills, experience and judgement to help guide the Group’s future direction.
- Act in the best interests of the charity and support positive governance across the Group.

Full support and training will be provided.

Time Commitment
Trustees typically attend several Trustee Board meetings each year and may occasionally support specific projects or initiatives. The role offers flexibility and can fit around work, family and other commitments.
